CHINA GROVE — Authorities continue to investigate how three pounds of marijuana found their way into a child’s Christmas present.
Rowan County Sheriff’s Department officials were told that a woman bought a Bratz Doll Game Box on eBay Dec. 8. The doll arrived at her China Grove home five days later.
Since the package appeared to be sealed as if it were from the manufacturer, the woman wrapped the gift and placed it under the Christmas tree.
“She took it to a family gathering on Christmas as a gift,” said Capt. John Sifford of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department.
Reports say when the package was opened, it contained a second package of marijuana.
Sifford said it’s possible to trace where the package came from, but the case is still under investigation.
The marijuana has a street value of about $7,200.
