Every Sunday for the past five or six years, Nan Martin has joined some friends for Sunday brunch. It’s a tradition the group sticks closely to as they regularly meet at Jeter’s Deli.
The other day, Martin made a $50 contribution to the Christmas Happiness Fund in honor of her “Sunday Breakfast Buddies.”
She also made the donation in honor of her co-workers at Home Health Professionals.
“My co-workers are an awesome bunch. I consider them as much as my family and I love them to death,” she said.
Martin is a breast cancer survivor and said her co-workers were her “absolute lifeline” during that time in her life.
The Sunday Breakfast Buddies, as Martin affectionally calls the group, consists of Martin, Mark and Lindsay Wineka, Howard Platt and Mike and Julie Cline.
The group meets after the early service at church and then heads to breakfast.
“It’s a time I can count on to catch up and visit,” Martin said.
The group rarely changes their breakfast location.
“It’s a good place. They have great food and the waitresses are sweet. Also, they have a good breakfast special,” Martin said, laughing.
She gives every year to Christmas Happiness.
“It’s just a great way to do it. It stays in the community and that makes me really happy,” Martin said.
She gives for herself and because of the people the fund helps.
“I’m fortunate I can do it and I’m pretty blessed to share the blessings,” Martin said.
Contributions can be brought to the Salisbury Post, 131 W. Innes St., between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays or mailed to The Salisbury Post Christmas Happiness Fund, P.O. Box 4639 Salisbury, NC 28145-4639.
Make checks payable to the Christmas Happiness Fund and indicate how you want your donation listed.
