A China Grove woman remains in critical condition following a wreck Friday night.
Juanita Garmon Yow, 62, of 5880 Gold Fish Road, was listed in critical condition at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte Tuesday night.
A 6-year-old child in Yow’s vehicle, Matthew Neil Yow, is in serious condition at Carolinas Medical.
According to Kannapolis Police, the accident occurred at 11:02 p.m. Friday at the intersection of China Grove and Moose roads.
A police report said Joshua Hudson Mason, 16, of 614 Asheboro St., was driving a 2004 Mini Cooper south on China Grove Road and failed to stop. His vehicle rammed into the driver’s side of a 1998 Ford minivan driven by Yow.
The minivan rolled over onto its side and slid down the road and into the yard at 2500 Moose Road.
Thomas Morgan Ryan, the resident at 2500 Moose Road, was able to get Matthew Yow and another child, 10-year-old Melysa Dawn Dunlap, out of the van.
The Rowan Rescue Squad extricated Juanita Yow from the van.
Juanita Yow and Matthew Yow were airlifted to the Charlotte hospital.A passenger in Mason’s vehicle, Caitlin Taylor Earnhardt of 2990 Lentz Road, China Grove was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord for treatment.
Both vehicles were judged a total loss.
