Staff report
Authorities are investigating the theft of a number of catalytic converters from a few local businesses.
Thieves walked away with more than 25 converters from five automobile dealers.
These thefts are increasing locally and across the state, law enforcement officials say.
The converters are designed to help reduce emissions from exhaust systems.
Arrests have been made in the past, but thieves still target vehicles for the catalytic converters in order to extract the metals for profit.
At least two of those businesses รณ Executive Homes Limited & Auto Sales and Cloninger Ford have been targeted before.
No arrests have been made yet in these most recent thefts.
