RALEIGH (AP) ó Forecasters say the Carolinas are in for a third day of severe weather.
The National Weather Service said the storms forecast for this afternoon and evening could bring damaging winds and large hail.
Weekend storms brought some minor flooding and plenty of lightning but did not cause any major problems. The systems did bring several inches of rain to a region that has been creeping back into a severe drought. But the rain totals have been spotty, with some areas getting plenty of water with other spots keeping dry.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor report shows that extreme drought conditions have returned to more than one-quarter of the Carolinas, with the worst conditions centered north of Greenville, S.C., on the border between the two states.
