Business roundup – Smith named ACP fellow

Dr. David Smith, medical director at Rowan Regional Medical Center, has been named a fellow in the American College of Physicians (ACP). He was inducted May 15 at a convocation ceremony held during its annual internal medicine meeting in Washington, D.C.
Founded in 1915, the ACP is a national organization of internistsńphysicians who specialize in the prevention, detection and treatment of illnesses in adults. With 125,000 members, it is the largest medical specialty organization and second-largest physician group in the country. Fellowship is an honor achieved by those recognized by their peers for personal integrity, superior competence in internal medicine, professional accomplishment, and demonstrated scholarship.
Smith, a long-time local internist, is board certified in internal medicine. He is past chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at Rowan Regional Medical Center and past president of the Rowan County Medical Society. He has been vice president of medical affairs/medical director at Rowan Regional Medical Center since 1998.
New real estate agent
Cheryl McDaniel has joined Kirby Realty Co. as an agent.
McDaniel retired last year from Wachovia Bank after 20 years as a lender and investment counselor. Before that, she had worked as a real estate agent in Miami, Fla., a clerk in a Miami law firm and in the Finance Department for the City of Coral Gables handling all special assessments.
She is married to Kevin McDaniel, a deputy sheriff with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, and has two daughters, Caroline and Kimberly Cruz.

Valdez joins salon
KANNAPOLIS ó Sandra Valdez has joined Tuscany Salon and Spa, 419 Jackson Park Road.
Valdez previously worked at a salon in Charlotte.
