ROCKWELL ó The Dollar General and Movie Gallery property sold recently for $1.59 million.
RDK Commercial Investments sold the 2-acre parcel at 610 Main St. to McCammon Properties of Concord III, according to a deed filed in the Rowan County Register of Deeds office. RDK paid $1.425 million for the property in 2006.
Richard D. Killian, who is also a state legislator from Charlotte, said when he bought the property about a year and a half ago, a deli that was there went out of business. But now he sees very stable tenants, especially with the way customers are flocking to the Dollar General for bargains as troubles plague the current economy.
He managed the property himself since he bought it.
Killian said the management of the movie rental business has been excellent, and he expects other tenants that are there now to remain. Those include a Curves fitness operation and the Creative Cuts & Tans salon.
“They’re all doing well,” Killian said Thursday.
He said he lowered the price from its original listing, but with the general state of the economy, he was satisfied with the purchase.
Roger McCammon of Concord is the principal agent listed with McCammon Properties but he said he didn’t wish to comment on the deal.
