Grandchildren/grandparents rights group to meet Saturday
The local chapter of Grandchildren/Grandparents Rights of North Carolina will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Clancy Hills Apartments meeting room, 100 Clancy Hills Road.
The nonprofit is attempting to pass state legislation called Louise’s Law, started by Louise McIntyre of Statesville, to give grandparents the right to petition the court for visitation on a case-by-case basis.

Christmas Happiness A donation from the United Methodist Women’s Group of Grace United Methodist Church has increased the 2006 Christmas Happiness fund total by another $50.
The grand total for the holiday fund drive that benefits children from low-income families in Rowan County now stands at $75,456.31.
Legislative breakfast
The Rowan County Board of Commissioners plans to attend the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast on Tuesday.
The breakfast will be from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Holiday Inn, located on Jake Alexander Boulevard.
No official business will be conducted.
