Man charged with stealing from work

The Rowan Sheriff’s Department charged Lonnie Scott Thorpe, 37, of 468 Cedar Glen Circle, Cleveland, with stealing money from his employer, Rapid Exchange.

Reports said Thorpe took or embezzled $1,094.06 from Rapid Exchange between Aug. 11 and Nov. 25. He was arrested Friday and placed under $500 bond.

In other reports in the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office, Darius Abel, 17, of 422 Ludwick Ave., Salisbury, is charged with breaking into a home at 315 Carolina Blvd. and stealing $5,000 worth of jewelry, $2,900 in cash and a pistol.

N.T. Sides of the Salisbury Police Department investigated. Abel was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center Friday under $2,500 bond.

East Spencer Police Officer M.A. Latchman charged Tyisha N. Ward, 26, of 825 E. Lafayette St., Salisbury, with assaulting Sandra Ward with a hammer and a high chair Friday.

Tyisha Ward was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $5,000 bond.
