A Salisbury woman was robbed at gunpoint outside a Statesville Boulevard restaurant with her 2-year-old daughter in the car.

The Salisbury Police are searching for the two men, who they think might also be involved in a convenience store robbery the day before.

The woman, whose name is not being used, had just left Monterrey Mexican Restaurant at 2094 Statesville Blvd. Wednesday shortly before 9 p.m. with her boyfriend and daughter.

Her boyfriend had left for home in his car, and the woman was changing her child’s diaper in the backseat of her car when two men approached her in the parking lot.

The men demanded money and pointed a black handgun at her.

One of the men told her he didn’t want to shoot her because of her child.

The other told her to take her time when she rushed to put clothes on her child and get money from her purse.

She told investigators the men wore no masks or gloves.

One man is described as a black male, 5 feet 5 inches, 120 pounds. He was wearing a white do-rag with a dark colored baseball cap. He also wore a dark colored coat that came to the mid-thigh area and dark baggy pants. The man had no facial hair, she told authorities.

The second suspect is described as a black male, about 6 feet and 170 pounds. He wore his hair in dreadlocks that fell below the ears. He was not wearing anything on his head. The man was also wearing a dark colored coat that came to the mid-thigh area, dark colored baggy pants and a white T-shirt.

The men took off in a 1980s or early 1990s Buick or Oldsmobile toward Marlow’s Barbecue, also on Statesville Boulevard.

Early Tuesday morning, two men robbed a nearby Kangaroo convenience store at gunpoint. The men entered the store at 2270 Statesville Blvd. and made the clerks sit on the floor in an office.

In that incident, the men were also wearing dark clothing, but their faces were covered.

Salisbury Police Chief Mark Wilhelm said the two incidents could be connected.
