A public hearing on state annexation laws scheduled to be held in Asheville next week has been moved up by one day.
N.C. Rep. Fred Steen, of Landis, who serves on the House Select Committee on Municipal Annexation, sent out e-mails Thursday notifying local residents and county officials of the change.
The session will be held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Ferguson Auditorium on the Asheville-Buncombe-Technical Community College.
The hearing had previously been scheduled for Wednesday.
A second public hearing is scheduled for April 9 at 5 p.m. in Room 643 of the Legislation Office Building in Raleigh.
Rep. Bruce Goforth and Rep. Paul Luebke serve as co-chairmen of the committee.
