THIS IS A NORTH CAROLINA AMBER ALERT FOR
AN ENDANGERED CHILD

RALEIGH 11:50 AM — The Alleghany Sheriffs Office is searching for a missing child: Matthew James Wood.

Matthew James Wood is a 7-year-old white male, approximately 4 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 55 pounds. He has light brown hair, and brown eyes. Matthew was last seen wearing a striped sweatshirt and blue jeans. He had no shoes on, but was wrapped up in a yellow blanket

The victim is believed to be with Teresa Wood. Teresa Wood is described as 37 years old, white, female, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds. She has brown hair and green eyes. The suspect was last seen wearing dark blue jogging pants with the word ‘fencing’ printed down the side. She had on a dark gray pullover wind breaker.

The suspect and child were last seen at 87 Chevy Lane in Sparta early Monday morning. They are believed to be traveling on foot; their direction of travel is unknown.
