Altrusa of Salisbury will conduct a food distribution on Thursday for Rowan County residents only at Salisbury Civic Center, 315 S. Boundary St. , from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until all food is gone.
Food Stamp recipients should bring the letters which were mailed to them.
All others who do not receive food stamps can come to the Civic Center because they may also be eligible to receive the free food. They must disclose the total gross monthly household income. Following are examples of the income guidelines,
– Family of one person ó$1,037.
– Two persons ó $1,390.
– Four persons ó $2,097.
– Six persons ó $2,803.
The program does not require that you disclose the value of your home, car or savings. Nor are you required to be a legal alien resident. People should bring a container for the food.
Available food items include green beans, canned sweet potatoes, tomatoes, canned chicken, beef stew and peanut butter.
