Alex Hipp was recognized at the 2008 North Carolina 4-H State Council Conference for earning her bronze level in the Ambassador Program.
The N.C. 4-H Ambassador Program encourages personal development and service to N.C. 4-H. The program is self-based and self-paced. There are four levels of achievement: bronze, silver, gold and emerald. To participate in the program, a 4-H member must be at least 13 years old and have been a member of 4-H for at least two years.
Hipp completed the following five required workshops: Introduction to the Ambassador Program, Fundamentals of 4-H Youth Development, Public Speaking Basics, Parliamentary Procedure and Personal, Professional and Flag Etiquette. In addition to the required workshops, Hipp completed 15 hours of elective workshops.
For successful completion of each level, every participant must compile and submit a Personal Leadership Portfolio based upon defined criteria that is then judged. Hipp is the daughter of David and Pam Hipp of Salisbury.
North Carolina 4-H’s Ambassador Program strives to empower teens with knowledge, skills and aspirations necessary to be effective leaders.
The program strengthens a youth’s abilities so they may serve as positive role models for younger youth, build meaningful partnerships and promote the 4-H mission.
