15-year-old Kannapolis girl missing

Kannapolis ó The Kannapolis Police Department is seeking community assistance in locating Bethany Lee Whitaker, 15. She lives at 1900 Plaza Ave., Kannapolis, and was last seen at A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis on May 8 around 11:15 a.m.
She may be with her boyfriend, Matthew Ryan Fowler. They may be in Fowler’s 1999 Volkswagen Jetta 4-S, which is white with white rims. The license plate is WRC-9932.
Her family has not communicated with her in any manner since she left, however; an anonymous tip received today by Whitaker’s mother indicated she and Fowler were recently observed in the Charlotte area.
The Kannapolis Police Department is asking anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Bethany Whitaker to contact Officer P.M. Malec at the Kannapolis Police Department 704-920-4000 or call 704-93-CRIME.
