Sectional tourney set
David Bonner and Barbara Doster are co-chairs of the Aug. 17-19 Sectional Tournament in Hendersonville at the Opportunity House, 1411 Asheville Highway. Details are in the July District 7 News.Don Webster was welcomed back to our weekly duplicate game last Tuesday evening at the Salisbury Woman’s Club. Margaret and Charles Rimer took first place.
Other winners were: Betsy Bare and Craig Poplin, second; Marie Pugh and Becky Creekmore tied for third with Phoebe Beard and Ellna Simpson-Elton.This was the deal on Board 15 from Tuesday’s game:

Stella Shadroui and Betty Bonner Steele defeated their East opponent’s four-hearts-doubled contact five tricks for the best N/S score on this deal.
The Pugh/Creekmore pair defeated South’s four spades contract one trick for the top E/W score.
Lucy Brown and Phoebe Beard placed first E/W and high overall in the Evergreen Club’s Aug. 3 duplicate game.
Clyde Steele and Loren Parkinson were the top N/S pair. Other winners were: N/S ó Marie Pugh and Ruth Boyles, second; Jane Cutrell and Georgeana Glenn, third. E/W ó Jean and Loyd Hill, second; Steve Moore and Stella Shadroui, third.
