RCCC teaching awards
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is honoring 10 faculty members with 2007 Excellence in Teaching Awards.
Emily Ward, an instructor in the associate degree nursing program who joined the faculty in 2003, has received the Outstanding Excellence in Teaching Award. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Guilford Technical Community College and bachelors and masters degrees in nursing at Gardner-Webb University.
Ward is also RCCCs nominee for the 2007 North Carolina Community College System-R.J. Reynolds Excellence in Teaching Award.
Others receiving awards with special distinction are:
Brenda Brady, criminal justice for support to the mission of the college.
Donna Ginn, English for active learning practices.
Frank Merrell, construction management, fire protection and industrial engineering technologies for use of technology in instruction.
The remaining Excellence in Teaching Award winners are Charles Albrecht, business administration; Charlotte Grossman, mathematics; Denise Madrazo, life sciences; Greg Sember, political science; Betty Stack, English; and Kathy Vestal, foreign languages.
ASU academic honor
Julie Marie Troutman was recognized during Appalachian State Universitys spring academic honors convocation as an academic honor student.
The designation is awarded to currently enrolled sophomore, junior and senior students who have a cumulative 3.9 or higher grade-point average in courses taken at ASU. They must be seeking degrees and have completed four academic terms.
Troutman is the daughter of Allen and Karen Troutman of Rockwell.
