Sarah Goodnight, of Salisbury, recently competed as a member of the North Carolina gymnastics team at the USAG Level 8 Regional competition in Raleigh.
Goodnight earned a spot on the eight-member team by earning an all-around score of 36.325 at the North Carolina USAG Level 8 state meet held in March, in Charlotte, where she also won first place in the all-around and on uneven bars.
At the regional competition, competing against seven other state team members in the Southeast region, Goodnight won the uneven bars event in the junior division with a score of 9.550 and finished with an all-around score of 36.950, earning a 16th-place finish. Goodnight, age 12, trains at Cabarrus County Gymnastics in Concord with coaches Mindy Yaeger and Trish Faust.
She is the daughter of Paris and Nancy Goodnight of Salisbury.
