A Mocksville man was charged Monday with the rape of a 7-year-old girl he was reportedly babysitting.
On Sunday, Rowan County Sheriffs deputies were called at 11 p.m. to a home to investigate a sexual assault.
The victims mother called authorities after her daughter told her of the assault.
Donald Marc Thomason, 27, of 580 Deadmon Road, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape of a child.
Thomason is an acquaintence of the child. The incident occurred at the victims house while the mother was at the store.
Thomason remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $65,000 bond.
