Guns and jewelry valued at $5,535 were stolen from a China Grove home June 9, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Christopher Matthew Lyerly reported the theft occurred between 12:30 and 1:40 a.m. at his 3620 W. N.C. 152 home.
In other Sheriff’s Office reports:
– David Joel Mitchell, 17, 230 Phillips Hollow Road, Mooresville, was charged June 7 with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was released on a written promise to appear in court July 19.
– Donald Lee Miller of Miller’s Used Cars, 2038 N. U.S. 29, reported someone shot a tire on a car on his lot June 7. Damage totaled $85.
– A juvenile was charged June 8 with simple assault at Erwin Middle School, 170 St. Luke’s Church Road.
– David E. Burris, 135 Burris Drive, reported June 8 that items valued at $930 had been stolen during a May 31 burglary at his home.
– Michael E. Winters reported vandals caused $400 damage to his vehicle while it was parked in an open area at 3840 Bringle Ferry Road the night of June 7.
– Matthew Alan Moore, 23, 6808 Old Concord Road, was charged June 8 with making harassing phone calls based on a complaint by Erin Petrea, 215 Meadowood Drive. Trial date is July 26.
– April Christina Coble, 38, 155 Nancy Easter Loop, Mocksville, was charged June 8 with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Dooley Road near South River Church Road in Woodleaf. She was held under $1,000 secured bond pending a first appearance in court.
– Robert Lee Howie Jr., 38, 1025 Linn St., Apartment A, China Grove, was charged June 9 with failure to register as a sex offender, failure to pay child support and two probation violations. He was held under total secured bond of $8,580 pending June 11 and July 9 court dates.
– Don Diago Witherspoon, 44, 400 E. 21st St., Kannapolis, was charged June 9 with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and three counts of statutory rape/sex offense when the defendant is more than six years older than victim. He was held under $100,000 secured bond pending a June 25 trial date.
– Myron Davis Hatley of Mount Pleasant reported items valued at $365 were stolen from a building site at 19 Brooks Drive, Rockwell, the night of June 8.
– Michael Dixon McCullough, 3060 Bear Poplar Road, Mount Ulla, reported a $100 engine block was stolen from an open shed on his property between May 15 and June 8.
– Kathryn Elizabeth Hamilton of Gold Hill reported a $2,500 air conditioning unit stolen from 703 N. Enochville Ave., Kannapolis, the night of June 8.
– Kenneth Earl Jones, 4135 Strider Circle, Kannapolis, reported vandals damaged two vehicles parked at his home June 9. Damage totaled $200.
– Calvin Elliott Cowan, 201 Ephraim Drive, reported a $1,500 riding mower was stolen and windows broken in a van parked at his home between June 2 and 9. Damage totaled $5,000.
– John Gerald Cosma Jr. of Mooresville reported $4,500 damage to a truck while it was parked at 206B Performance Road, Mooresville, the night of June 8.
– Terry Ronald Burton, 50, 7535 Blackwelder Drive, was charged June 10 with assault on a female based on a complaint by Susan W. Hinson, 130 Dulins Ave. Trial date is Aug. 2.
– Tami Bame Adams, 34, of Rockwell was charged June 9 with larceny of motor fuel. She was held under $500 secured bond pending a July 9 trial date.
– Two people were charged June 10 with assaulting each other at their 534 Cress School Road home.
Brandon Adam Bowlin, 29, was charged with assault on a female. Jayna Bowlin, 25, was charged with simple assault. She was also charged with two counts of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. Both were held pending bond hearings. Trial date is July 26.
– Norma Jean Bowden reported her purse was stolen from her van while it was parked at 1180 Barger Road the night of June 10. Total loss was $288.
– Richard M. McMinn, 155 Country Lane, Mooresville, reported someone shot into his home between June 8 and 10.
– John Stephen Shuffler, 1610 Daugherty Road, China Grove, reported a push mower and a charcoal grill were stolen from his storage building and property between June 7 and 9. Total loss was $200.
– Larry Eugene Tollie, 48, 1043 Andover Lane, Rockwell, was charged June 10 with assault with a deadly weapon and a domestic violence protective order violation based on a complaint by Timothy Allan Clawson, 2985 Faith Road. Tollie was held under $1,000 secured bond pending a July 26 trial date.
– Rebecca Michele Pickler, 1135 Forest Oaks Drive, reported prescription medication valued at $60 was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at her home June 9 and 10.
– Kevin Dean Bost, 27, address given as streets of China Grove, was charged June 10 with misdemeanor larceny and a probation violation. He is accused of stealing a bicycle belonging to Todd Johnson, 1030 Linn St., China Grove. Bost was held under $500 secured bond pending a July 26 trial date.
– Lanny Ray Whisnant, 27, 475 Wal Hollow Lane, Mooresville, was charged June 11 with assault by pointing a gun based on a complaint by Kimberly Ely Frizzell, 270 Wal Hollow Lane, Landis. He was released on a written promise to appear in court July 12.
– William Glenn Hanes, 4720 N.C. 801, Woodleaf, reported items valued at $415 were stolen from his storage building the night of June 10.
– Jeff Whitley of Salisbury reported vandals caused $700 damage to a N.C. Department of Transportation backhoe parked on Brookfield Circle at Leach Road between June 8 and 11.
– Scott Michael Harris of Kannapolis, reported two suspects stole two racing helmets valued at $200 from J&M Pro Paint, 410 Performance Road, Mooresville, June 11.
– Norma Sue Widenhoft, 2345 Statesville Blvd., Apartment 121, reported three checks stolen from her home June 4. One has since been cashed at a Salisbury bank.
– Lamarr Edward King, 23, 520 Hannah Ferry Road, was charged June 11 with assault on a child under age 12, based on a complaint by Debra Foster. He was held under $1,000 secured bond pending a July 18 trial date.
– Dwight David Kelly, 4245 First St., China Grove, reported a burglar broke into his home through the front door June 11 and stole three guns valued at $930.
