The Rowan County Senior Services Department is offering free fans to senior citizens who do not have air conditioning in their homes.
The Summer Fan Program, made possible by a contribution from Duke Energy, aims to provide relief from the intense summer heat to people older than 60.
Rowan County residents who meet the requirements can receive one fan apiece for their homes.
Residents who qualify:
– Must be at least 60 years of age;
– Must not have received a fan last year;
– Must have a need for air conditioning in their homes;
Priority will be given to low-income individuals.
Last year, the Summer Fan Program handed out 100 fans. This year, 60 fans are available to Rowan senior citizens.
For more information or to request a fan, call 704-216-7700 or stop by Rowan County Senior Services located at 1120A S. Boundary St.
