Filing for offices in the county’s 10 municipalities starts next week.
More than 40 seats on boards and councils are open and will be decided in the November election.
The municipal filing period opens at noon on July 6 and will close two weeks later at noon on July 20.
Filing must be done at the Rowan County Board of Elections Office in the County Administrative Offices Building, 130 W. Innes St.
The filing fee for most races is $5. Kannapolis has the highest filing fees at $30 for City Council and $60 for mayor.
A complete list of the positions to be filled in the election is available on the Rowan County web site under the elections department link.
In addition to elections to fill the various municipal seats, a least one town will have a multi-million-dollar bond on the ballot.
Elections Director Nancy Evans said Landis officials plan to vote at their next meeting to set the amount for a bond referendum on the Nov. 6 ballot.
The Rowan County Board of Elections recently agreed to change the polling place for the East Kannapolis precinct.
The precinct will move from Jackson Park Baptist Church to the media center at Jackson Park Elementary School.
The change is effective with he Nov. 6 municipal elections.
