Johnson & Wales grad
Katie Suzanne Shoe graduated summa cum laude May 19 from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I. She received a bachelor of science degree in culinary nutrition.
Shoe was a University Honors Scholar and member of Golden Quill and Alpha Beta Kappa honors societies. She was president of the Collegiate Nutrition Society for two years.
She was named Dietetic Student of the Year for the state of Rhode Island, completed an internship at Boston Medical Center and taught weekly nutrition lessons with interactive cooking demonstrations for several Rhode Island senior centers as part of the You Can! Steps to Healthier Aging national campaign.
She graduated from East Rowan High School in 2003 and received an associate of applied science degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, S.C., in February 2005.
She plans to pursue a master of nutrition degree and complete a dietetic internship to become a registered dietitian.
Her parents are David Shoe and Cathy Shoe of Salisbury.
