James Board Jr. of RWBT Inc. of Salisbury won a truck as part of a safety program run by Quality Carriers Inc. in Tampa, Fla.
RWBT, an affiliate of Quality Carriers, was founded by Wayne Bost in 1969 and is run by his son, Brad.
Quality Carriers has been running the safety program this year with a qualified driver winning a new Ford F-150 truck every month. Every month hundreds of names are entered for the truck.
Board won the truck, which was provided by Cloninger Ford Toyota, and presented to him on Friday, May 25.
Board has been in the trucking industry since 1978. He hauled several different types of trailers until 2002 when he started hauling liquid tankers.
Known as Jim, Board has been with Quality Carriers since August 2005. He and his wife, Jackie, are natives of California and they have a son, Jimmy, 39.
“Better to always be safe than sorry,” Board says is his motto.
Along with the truck were two tickets on the front seat to the NASCAR Busch race at Lowe’s Motorspeedway. They chose the tickets over a $500 gas card because they loveNASCAR racing that much.
RWBT operates at 220 W. Ritchie Road off Julian Road. Brad Bost said the company has 101 drivers operating in the Southeast. Quality Carriers has about 2,500 drivers nationwide.
