Darius Hyman agreed to participate in Saturday’s Breast Cancer Awareness Auction because of the impact breast cancer has had on his family.
“I have breast cancer survivors in my family now,” he says, “and I’ve had some family members with it who did not pull through.”
Hyman, 26, of Greensboro works as a bondsman for a bail bonding company out of Winston-Salem. He’s also a full-time student at N.C. A&T University, pursuing a degree in occupational safety and health.
After graduating from Salisbury High School in 2000, he joined the Marines.
Hyman spent eight months in Iraq in 2005, an experience that he says opened his eyes to the poor living conditions in other countries. “The United States is a very good place to live,” he says.
Hyman is now a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves.
The father of three children, Hyman is divorced and currently not in a relationship.
“I’m looking for someone who is honest and charitable and spiritual as well,” he says, “and who is as beautiful inside as she is outside.”
His idea of a perfect date would include “great conversation, a lot of laughter, good food and good company.”
Hyman describes himself as being a romantic, health-conscious person.
His long-term goal is to be a great provider with enough financial freedom to go on vacations at leisure and give back to charities.
“And I want to inspire others by living a life that sets an example,” he says.
Ladies, start your bidding.
