LANDIS ó A Monday night fire that started in a pickup caught a one-story Hickory Street house on fire.
The fire occurred around 8:30 p.m. at 525 Hickory St.
According to Landis Fire Chief Reed Linn, two people inside, a man and woman, managed to get out of the home with no injuries.
“Preliminary reports indicate the fire started in a pickup and spread to the exterior of the house,” Linn said.
The truck was parked underneath an attached carport.
There was smoke damage throughout the house and fire damage mostly confined to one side of the house where the carport is located.
Linn said the Rowan County Fire Marshal’s office will conduct an investigation to determine how the fire began.
In addition to Landis, the China Grove, Bostian Heights, Enochville and Atwell Fire departments responded, as well as the Rowan County Rescue Squad.
A few other fire departments were called to provide extra manpower and coverage to other areas. Those were Locke, Rockwell Rural, South Salisbury and Kannapolis.
