Strong storms packing rain and high winds whipped through Rowan County Tuesday night, leaving downed trees in their wake.
The National Weather Service’s Greenville, S.C., office issued a weather advisory warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms throughout Tuesday night.
The Rowan County Emergency Communications Center fielded numerous reports of downed trees, but no major accidents. Officials with the Salisbury Police Department said the city also took reports of the strong winds knocking down trees, but no serious wrecks were reported.
The N.C. Highway Patrol reported minor collisions and many downed trees.
For the next couple days, the weather is expected to clear and become cloudy at night with some rain likely on Friday.
