Woman charged with trafficking opium

A Gold Hill woman is jailed under $100,000 bond after authorities charged her with trafficking in opium.
According to an arrest report, Jamie Lynn Poteat, 33, sold Rowan County Sheriff’s Deputy P.L. Kepley between 14 grams and 28 grams of opium on Feb. 13. Poteat also had 22 Hydrocodone pills in her possession at the time of the February drug sale, the arrest report says.
The warrant for Poteat’s arrest was taken out on Oct. 13.
Poteat is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule III controlled substance, and two counts of trafficking opium or heroin.
