The Veterans Day parade scheduled for today in downtown Salisbury has been cancelled due to rain. A parade that was to be held on the grounds of the Hefner VA Medical Center has also been cancelled.
A 10 a.m. program at the VA Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Ave., will go on as scheduled, as well as a barbecue lunch and commemorative military display beginning at 11 a.m. at VFW Post 3006, 1200 Brenner Ave.
Rain is expected to continue throughout the day and into Thursday and could be heavy at times, the National Weather Service says. The remnants of Tropical Storm Ida are also producing strong wind gusts.
