Two men face numerous drug charges

During the course of a month-long investigation, detectives from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit searched a house at 149 Castle Dr. Wednesday and seized 172 grams of marijuana, 85 assorted prescription pills, two firearms, assorted drug paraphernalia and $ 1,277 in cash.
Jason Ray Hughes and Gregory Edward Barrentine were arrested and charged with the following:
– Hughes, 28, of 149 Castle Dr., trafficking opium by possession, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance; possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule III controlled substance (10 hydrocodone pills); possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance (60 alprazolam); possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance (172 grams of marijuana); possession of drug paraphernalia; possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance (15 propoxyphene)
He was placed under a secured $55,000 bond pending a first appearance today.
– Barrentine, 31, 149 Castle Dr., possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule VI controlled substance (119 grams of marijuana); possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance (15 propoxyphene; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was placed under a secured $7,500 bond and will make his first appearance in court today.
