Two men face numerous drug charges

During the course of a month-long investigation , detectives of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit searched the home at 149 Castle Drive Wednesday and seized 172 grams of marijuana, 85 assorted prescription pills, two firearms, assorted drug paraphernalia and $ 1,277 in cash.
Jason Ray Hughes and Gregory Edward Barrentine were arrested and charged with the following:
– Hughes, 28, of 149 Castle Drive, trafficking opium by possession, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance; possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule III controlled substance (10 hydrocodone pills); possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance (60 alprazolam); possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance (172 g. marijuana); possession of drug paraphernalia; possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance (15 propoxyphene)
He was placed under a secured $55,000 bond pending a first appearance Friday.
– Barrentine, 31, 149 Castle Drive, possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule VI controlled substance (119 g. marijuana); possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance (15 propoxyphene; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was placed under a secured $7,500 bond and will make his first appearance in court Friday.
