Two face charges in attempted murder

Two men were charged Thursday with attempted first-degree murder of a Salisbury man last weekend.
The victim, Jon Ross Gregory, was recovering from a beating with a handgun. He was treated at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
William Paul Maddox, 22, of 115 Division Ave., East Spencer, and Rashaad Lamar Young, 19, of 605 5th St., Spencer, are charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree burglary, in addition to the attempted murder charge.
Detective Mike Colvin of the Salisbury Police Department arrested Maddox and Young on Thursday.
According to information contained in warrants, police say the two broke into Gregory’s home at 806 N. Main St., between 10 p.m. and midnight Saturday.
Police specified that a PlayStation 3 video game console worth $300 was taken.
Maddox and Young are scheduled to appear in Rowan County District Court Monday. They are being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under $250,000 bond.
