Two Atwell Community parents have been charged with felony child abuse.
Amanda Griggs, 32, and Charles Griggs, of Longbriar Drive (off Unity Church Road near the Iredell County line) were charged Thursday with child abuse. Both are being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under $9,500 each.
Capt. John Sifford of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, said the investigation began on Oct. 9, when the Rowan County Social Services referred the case of possible child abuse.
The allegation involved in part living arrangements in the Griggs household.
The DSS has assisted the Sheriff’s Office by placing all four of the Griggs’ children with a maternal grandfather.
