A Gibsonville woman got quite a scare Saturday when a tree fell across the interstate and hit the roof of her sport-utility vehicle.
Eulalia Lina Pratt, 36, of 5472 Quarter Horse Trail, was traveling south on Interstate 85, five miles north of Salisbury, around 4:54 p.m. when a tree fell onto the roof of her vehicle, said N.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. B.E. Hower.
Hower said Pratt was driving just 35 mph in the right-hand lane when the tree fell from the southbound shoulder.
“She ran off the right side of the road and came to rest on the shoulder,” he said.
He said her injuries were not life threatening.
Her front seat passenger, Rosalinda Palacios, 42, of Grant, also had injuries that were not life threatening.
Two back-seat passengers, Claudia Palacios, 14, also of Grant, and Dennis Fountain, 2, of Gibsonville were not seriously injured.
They were taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Hospital officials said Monday that Pratt and Fountain were treated and released.
There are no records for Rosalinda and Claudia Palacios.
