Three charged in Kannapolis robberies

KANNAPOLIS ó Investigators with the Kannapolis Police Department have arrested three men in connection with two separate robberies in Kannapolis.
Arrested were Nicholas Lane Beaver, George Adam Lee and Joshua James Sweeney.
The first robbery occurred on July 25 at the Wing Zone Restaurant, 846 Cloverleaf Plaza.
An employee reported that as he was walking to his vehicle after work, two white males approached, pointed guns at him and demanded money.
The employee gave them the deposit bag from the business. The suspects were last seen running from the Wing Zone toward South Cannon Boulevard.
On Aug. 18, a resident in the 500 block of V8 Street in Kannapolis reported two armed men entered the house through an unlocked door and demanded money and drugs. The victim gave them money. The suspects then left the residence and were last seen running east on V8 Street.
During the investigation, police identified Beaver, Sweeney and Lee as suspects.
Investigators arrested Beaver, 24, of 8161 Smith Road, on Tuesday for weapons violations during a vehicle stop on West C Street. Beaver was eventually charged with the robberies late Tuesday evening.
Investigators arrested Lee, 26, of 1847 Hampton Forrest Drive, Concord, and Sweeney, 29, of 5348 Heidelburg Drive, Concord, on Thursday after they voluntarily went to the Kannapolis Police Department for an interview.
Each of the three is charged with two counts of armed robbery and felony breaking and entering. They were being held Thursday evening in the Cabarrus County jail under $400,000 bond apiece.
