Statesville Evening Farmers Market Apple Festival set for next week

STATESVILLE ó The Evening Farmers Market will hold its annual Apple Festival at Pecan Park on Sept. 17, starting at 4 p.m.
Visitors can get a free sample of freshly pressed apple cider made by the Hatfield family and taste samples of apples and apple recipes.
There will be an apple peeling contest.
Lynn and Dixie St. Clair of St. Clair Orchards will have their truck loaded with a variety of apples to purchase for eating, cooking and preserving for winter. Varieties will include Gala, Magna Bonum, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Jonagold and Mutsa.
The market also features locally grown tomatoes, corn, squash, watermelon, eggplant, cantaloupes, apples, blueberries, cucumbers, peppers, fresh herbs, herb plants, eggs, freshly baked breads, jams, jellies, hand-made soaps and lotions, flower bouquets, all natural pet treats and more
