The Rowan County Animal Control office has reported its sixth rabies case for 2009.
A dog belonging to Brent Brandon of 503 Oakwood Drive, Spencer, got into a fight May 7 with a rabid raccoon.
Tiger, a German shepherd mix, had to be held in quarantine at the animal shelter until the test results on the raccoon came back.
Tiger was not current on his rabies vaccination and had to be euthanized at the owner’s request after the results on the raccoon came back positive.
