Snow fell across Rowan and surrounding counties overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning, forcing the cancellation of school in most systems.
The National Weather Service reported 2 1/2 inches of snow in Salisbury. That was about average. The greatest total for the area was 3 inches in Kannapolis.
Patrick Moore, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service, said Wednesday’s high is expected to be only 33 degrees.
He said primary roads will likely be clear of precipitation, but said there’s a possibility that precipitation on less-traveled secondary roads will refreeze tonight, presenting a problem with black ice.
