Agency helping seniors make digital TV transition
The Rowan County Senior Services Department has become a local lead agency helping older Americans convert over-the-air television signals (via rooftop antenna or “rabbit ears”) to digital programming.
The department is providing education and one-on-one assistance to help seniors make the conversion as well as helping them apply for a discount coupon for converter boxes and track the coupons. Senior services staff will also deliver the boxes and install them as needed.
To apply for coupons online, log onto www.DTV2009. The number to call for a coupon is 1-888-388-2009.
Applications can be mailed to P.O. Box 2000, Portland, OR 97208 or faxed to 1-877-388-4632.
Anyone with an unused coupon that has not expired can donate it to the department for redistribution. For more information or to receive assistance from Rowan Senior Services, call 704-216-7700.
The department is located in the Rufty-Holmes Senior Center building at 1120-A S. Martin Luther King Ave.
