Senior Games at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium on Saturday

Opening ceremonies for the Salisbury/Rowan Senior Games begin at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis. Gates open at noon.
The ceremonies precede a softball game pitting celebrity NFL players against a Salisbury/Rowan seniors team and include a torch lighting by Hazel Trexler-Campbell and Robert Goodwin, the Honor Guard of Rowan County and a performance of the National Anthem by Chelsea Johnson, the reigning Miss Livingstone College.
Rowan County Board of Commissioners Chairman Carl Ford will throw out the first pitch at 1:30.
Taking part in the softball game are Tommy Barnhardt, of the Carolina Panthers; Ben Coates, New England Patriots; Lance Smith, New York Giants; Tory Woodbury, New York Jets; Larry Griffin, Pittsburgh Steelers; Rod Smith, president of the NFL Alumni Association; Giradie Mercer, Philadelphia Eagles; Reggie Shuford, Carolina Panthers; Thabiti Davis, New York Giants.
They will sign autographs after the game.
