Search for missing girl leads to drug arrest
Efforts to locate a runaway girl ended with a Kannapolis man facing drug and gun possession charges.
Glenn Douglas Rogers, 19, 6700 Goldfish Road, faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of firearms by a felon.
Capt. John Sifford of the Rowan Sheriff’s Office said officers received a tip that a runaway girl might be at the Rogers home.
Sifford said when deputies went to Douglas’ house Monday, they could see drug paraphernalia on a table. Rogers consented to a search.
Deputies confiscated scales, an Indian pipe, straws, a safe and pills.
Deputies also seized four guns including a Winchester .30 rifle, a Remington .22 caliber rifle, a Savage 12-gauge shotgun and a Snake Charmer rifle.
In other Sheriff’s Office reports:
– A car owned by Amelia Pichardo of Spring Oak Drive sustained extensive damage between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Various offensive words were cut into the paint of her 2007 Kia Spectra. All four tires were cut and the front windshield was broken.
The car was parked on Tumbleweed Drive when the damage occurred.
– Deputies responded Monday afternoon to a report of a fight on the side of Interstate 85 south of Exit 79.
Two teenage girls were involved in a fight. Deputies arrested a16-year-old, but she was later released by a magistrate.
