Salisbury girls win 2A state title 56-41 over Graham

CHAPEL HILL ó Salisbury’s girls basketball team defeated Graham 56-41 in the 2A state championship game Saturday afternoon at the Dean E. Smith Center.
Bubbles Phifer scored 15 points and was named MVP. The junior guard hit two 3-pointers.
De’Rya Wylie added 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Hornets (29-3), who overcame a six-point deficit midway through the third quarter to win their second NCHSAA title. They also won it in 2004.
Kiandria Allen scored 17 points and Beth Miller added 13 for the Red Devils (28-4), who were outrebounded 37-24 and forced into 20 turnovers.
The championship makes Rowan County 2-for-2 in major sports. West Rowan won the state 3A title in football back in December.
