ROCKWELL ó Rowan County has had its 10th confirmed rabies case of the year.
On Aug. 4, Amber Sloop, of 1020 Brendas Loop, reported to Rowan County Animal Control that she had discovered her four cats playing with a bat in her yard. Animal Control submitted the bat for testing, and it tested positive for rabies.
The cats, which were not current on their rabies vaccinations, were held in quarantine until the county received the test results. They were euthanized at the owner’s request, according to Animal Control.
