Ellen Campbell of Richfield has been named Parent of the Year for Rowan County and overall winner for the Salisbury Head Start/Early Head Start Program.
She is a grandparent at the Wiley Lash Head Start/Early Head Start Center. She has been an active grandparent for the past eight years and has had four grandchildren graduate from the center. A 4-year-old grandson is now in the program.
She has been on all boards at Head Start and is now on the area advisory board and the policy council.
Other parents in competition on Jan. 26 for Parent of the Year were Vida Pulliam of West Rowan Head Start, Ceceilia Massey of Price Head Start, Thalia Hammond of West 22nd Street Head Start, Ericka Jeffries of Fleming Early Head Start, Michelle Giles of Westside Head Start and Joanne Imes of Livingstone Head Start.
Campbell won in the Jan. 29 competition in Norwood.
