Relay for Life teams hosting fundraisers

The Relay For Life team of Doran, Shelby, Pethel & Hudson, PA, will hold a fundraiser tonight as part of Earth Night Out in downtown Salisbury.
The team will offer soft drinks in recyclable plastic cups with 2009 Rowan County Relay for Life printed on them from 5 to 10 p.m. in front of the Wooden Stone Gallery on South Main Street. The team will also have baked goods for snacking. Donations will benefit the American Cancer Society.
“Fight Like a Girl” T-shirts will also be also be for sale while supplies last. The team will also offer pre-sales of chances to win a Wii/Wii Fit package as part of a gift basket raffle. The winner will be announced at the Relay event at the Rowan County Fairgrounds on Friday, May 1, at 11 p.m.
A $100 gas gift card will also be given away as part of the raffle.
On Saturday, April 25, the Doran, Shelby, Pethel & Hudson team will host a yard and bake sale at 2410 Old Concord Road. In addition to lots of interesting items and delicious baked goods, the team will be selling recyclable cups and drawing tickets there.

Now is the time to pre-order a toboggan ski cap for a $6 donation or scarf for a $10 donation from the Linda’s Rays of Hope team. Adult and children’s sizes are available in a variety of weights and colors from camo to “girly,” according to Team Captain Laura Steele.

The team will also offer games for children with prizes, cotton candy, used books and a silent auction and drawings in the main hall. All the team’s efforts are in memory of Linda Clark, with donations going to Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.
