RCCC Small Business Center offering courses in basic accounting

The Small Business Center at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is offering courses for people planning to start a small business and small business owners who want to learn more about basic accounting.
The center will offer the REAL course, which provides step-by-step instructions on starting a small business in Cabarrus and Rowan counties. The 10-session course takes the entrepreneur from business idea to written business plan.
The REAL class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 6 through Nov. 5, at Rowan-Cabarrus’s Business & Technology Center in Concord. The course fee is $120.
The center will also offer two classes on “Basic Accounting for Small Businesses.” The first class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m., Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, at the Cabarrus Business & Technology Center. The second class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Nov. 3-17, also at the Business & Technology Center. The course fee is $65.
The center will offer two classes of “QuickBooks Pro 2009 Level I.” The course will teach students how to chart accounts, receive payments, pay bills, track cash sales and more. The first class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 8 through Nov. 5, and the second class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m., Dec. 1-9.
The course fee is $79. Both classes will meet at the Business & Technology Center.

The Small Business Center at RCCC is a community-based provider of education, training, counseling, information and referral, assisting entrepreneurs with business ideas and existing small business ventures.
The center’s seminars cover a broad range of small business topics, including business start-ups, business financing, marketing, Internet business, business growth and development, taxes, record keeping and customer service.
