A power outage hit sections of downtown Salisbury around 2:30 p.m. today.
Traffic lights along East Innes Street and Martin Luther King Avenue went out as did power at several businesses including Kmart and Office Depot.
A Salisbury Police official said communications had received several reports of outages and contacted Duke Energy.
The police department and many businesses in the downtown experienced a brief outage that knocked out phone systems.
The exact cause of the outage has not been determined.
Duke Energy’s Web site showed outages ranging from 250 to 1,000 in the Salisbury area.
