Possible gas leak investigated at intersection of Jake Alexander and Industrial Avenue

A motorist passing the intersection of Jake Alexander Boulevard and Industrial Avenue reported smelling natural gas.
Firefighters checked the surrounding area including the Colonial gas pipeline that crosses the area.
Checking area businesses, staff in one reported a slight smell of gas Tuesday morning while another detected a gas odor Monday night.
“We narrowed it to the intersection, a Piedmont Natural Gas main,” Battalion Chief C.C. Butler said.
The fire department contacted Piedmont Natural Gas which sent a crew to the scene.
