Police seek witnesses after pedestrian struck in Kannapolis

KANNAPOLIS ó A Mooresville man was hospitalized after being struck by an SUV on Tuesday. Police say the driver stopped and got out, then drove away.
Late Wednesday, Kannapolis police identified the pedestrian as Christopher Evans Bradley, 47, of 1010 Watson Court, Mooresville.
Bradley is at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in stable condition.
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver. At approximately 8:41 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to an accident involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Dale Earnhardt Boulevard and Vance Street.
After examining evidence at the crash scene, along with information obtained from several witnesses, police said:
– A dark colored SUV-type vehicle was heading north on Dale Earnhardt Boulevard approaching the intersection of Vance Street. As the SUV neared the intersection, it hit a pedestrian in the left travel lane.
– According to witnesses, the driver of the SUV stopped after the crash, got out for a moment and then left the scene. He was a white male in his 20s, witnesses said.
– No one could provide a plate number for the SUV.
The pedestrian was transported from the scene by Cabarrus County EMS.
