Police: Man tries to steal beer truck

KANNAPOLIS ó A young Kannapolis man unsuccessfully tried to steal a Budweiser beer truck Wednesday.
The man damaged the lever for the wipers and turn signals and failed to get the 2007 International 4000 Series truck started.
The truck is valued at $125,000.
Frustrated, 18-year-old Curtis Lee Whitehead then went inside the EZ Stop store at 701 Wright Ave., Kannapolis, and assaulted and attempted to rob the manager, Ji Han Roh.
By this time, police had been called and were able to nab Whitehead, of 2102 Moose Road, Kannapolis.
Kannapolis Police charged him with attempted common law robbery, injury to personal property and attempted larceny.
In other reports filed with the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office Wednesday night:
– East Spencer Police charged Quadry De’Nero Johnson, 17, of 1407 Park Ave., Salisbury, with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon.
He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $75,000 bond.
Johnson allegedly stole cash from William G. DeBerry and Andrew S. Casper last Saturday.
He also is accused of using a small semi-automatic handgun to rob DeBerry of a cell phone.
